The Maria Immaculata Church in Büren is one of the most magnificent baroque architectural monuments in Westphalia. The architectural style of this precious sacral building is Baroque in the facade, the interior design is pure Rococo style elements. The wooden doors of the aisles show technically brilliant inlay work.

The Church of Maria Immaculata (German: Immaculate Mary) in the Westphalian town of Büren, popularly known as the Jesuit Church, was built in the late Baroque style between 1754 and 1773 according to plans by Franz Heinrich Roth, the master builder of the Paderborn Prince-Bishop and Elector of Cologne Clemens August, in Built on behalf of the Jesuit order.[1] It is considered one of the few churches north of the Main in the southern German, Italian-influenced style.

The church is located at the foot of the mountain ridge between Afte and Alme, on which the historic center of the city of Büren is located. Together with the former Jesuit college, now Mauritius-Gymnasium, and the economy, the college's former farm building, it forms an ensemble that has shaped the view of the place for over 250 years.[2]

For several centuries, the castle of the noble lords of Büren stood approximately on the site of this ensemble, whose last descendant, Moritz von Büren, bequeathed his fortune to the Jesuit order in a will from 1640 and later joined the order.
