        This rock was consecrated in 1897 to commemorate the centenary of Kaiser Wilhelm I's birth. Consul Ida Schmid from Hamburg donated the funds for “making it accessible” and whatever else was needed to organize the celebration. Ms. Schmid came from a family in Wunsiedel, who took great interest in the development of the Luisenburg complex.

        From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Röslatal to Wunsiedel and Bad Alexandersbad.

              Professor Ludwig Hacker from Wunsiedel tells us in the “History of the Luisenburg” that this rock was consecrated in 1897, on the centenary of the birthday of Emperor Wilhelm I. The funds for “making it accessible” and everything else that was needed to organize the celebration were donated by Consul Ida Schmid from Hamburg. Mrs. Schmid came from a Wunsiedel family that had been very involved in the development of the Luisenburg facilities. The donor wrote at the time: “In grateful memory of what God gave us Germans through Emperor Wilhelm I. Incidentally: Wilhelm was a son of Queen Luise, after whom the Luxburg was renamed Luisenburg in 1805.

                Kaise-Wilhelm-Felsen was opened up in 1897.
                Later it was forgotten for decades and all roads led past it.
                It was not until 1973 that a new access staircase was built and the Fichtelgebirge association created a marked hiking trail.

                                          Large granite block between the Luisenburg rock labyrinth and the Burgstein rock on the Blaupunkt hiking trail. The rock inscription and construction of the climbing facility took place in 1897 to celebrate the centenary of Emperor Wilhelm I's birthday. From the platform there is a beautiful panoramic view of the inner Fichtel Mountains with Wunsiedel and Bad Alexandersbad.
