For decades, one of the many field crosses in the area stood on a meadow path near Hinterrehberg. It was exposed to wind and weather. When Bruno Tittel from Großrehmühle lovingly renovated the dilapidated piece in 2008 with voluntary work and found a new place for it on Mühlenweg, he came up with the idea of building a kind of chapel around the cross. After the base plate was cemented in 2010, the walls were built using half-timbering. The interior of the chapel is clad in wood and has been decorated with a small bell tower since 2016.

Hikers can come here for a short prayer, the chapel is freely accessible at any time.

The small corridor chapel worth seeing was built in 2010 and is located directly on Mühlenweg, a 16 km long circular route in the Franconian Forest. In 2016, as part of a celebration with many high-profile personalities from politics, the work with the consecration of the bell tower was completed. The guest of honor was Landtag President Barbara Stamm, who acts as Godmother of the bell.
