            The Protestant Church of St. Nicholas, spelled St. Nicholas Church or simply St. Nicholas Church, is a listed religious building on the Old Market in Potsdam. The central building in the classicist style, named after St. Nicholas, was built according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel between 1830 and 1837. The drum dome of the 77-meter-high building, which towers far above the roofs of the city, was built between 1843 and 1850. Ludwig Persius and, from 1845, Friedrich August Stüler took over the construction management.

After the old St. Nicholas Church burned down in 1795, plans were made to rebuild it in 1800.
