Burghausen Castle towers magnificently over the beautiful old town and the Salzach River - and at 1,051 meters in length is also officially the "world's longest castle". From here you have a fantastic view of the main castle.

The mighty castle towers over a kilometer long - exactly 1051 meters - over the listed old town. The families of the Lower Bavarian Dukes of Wittelsbach lived here more than 500 years ago, most recently the Duchess Hedwig, who was famous for the Landshut wedding. Today, the castle is considered the longest castle in the world and home to many castle houses (approx. 200 people live in the castle). There are also three museums and a gallery on the castle grounds. The castle is the namesake and outstanding landmark of the beautiful city - a "kind of city crown and dominant defiance at the same time". On a walk through the six castle courtyards, which are strung together like a pearl necklace, you can feel the medieval flair.
