Hölderlin is closely associated with Bad Homburg. There is a beautiful Hölderlin hiking trail to Frankfurt. Definitely hike.

During his lifetime, Hölderlin's works were only recognized by a small circle of friends.
In the history of German literature, the poet stood at the divide between the classic and the romantic.
Only posterity did him justice.
The Hölderlin Society researches and disseminates the poet's literary work.
In Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe, the poet's memory is honored with the annual presentation of the Friedrich Hölderlin Literature Prize.
The city also has a rich collection of Hölderlin manuscripts.
A school and a street were named after the poet.
The Homburg Hölderlin monument stands in the Kurpark.
It was unveiled on July 28, 1883.

One of the most prominent residents of Bad Homburg is Friedrich Hölderlin (* 20 March 1770 in Lauffen am Neckar, † 7 June 1843 in Tübingen). The poet stayed in Bad Homburg twice for two years. His unhappy love for the Frankfurt banker's wife Susette Gontard drove Hölderlin to Homburg the first time, and his increasingly deteriorating mental state the second time. His work Hyperion shaped an entire era. The monument in his honour in the Bad Homburg spa gardens was designed by the architect Louis Jacobi, and the relief was by the sculptor Jacob May.
