Alexandrinenstraße is one of the very first streets in Warnemünde along with the street "Am Strom". It used to be called the Achterreeg, which means back row in High German. Fishermen, sailors and pilots lived here in small gabled houses, which mostly consisted of simple half-timbering. Only a small distance was kept between the houses – the so-called Tüschen are at most 1.5 m wide. Just wide enough for a pregnant cow to pass through.

Alexandrinenstraße in Warnemünde is a parallel street to Am Strom street.
Both streets were once among the only ones in the former harbor and fishing village of Warnemünde.
The street used to be called Achtereeg, which in Low German means back row.
Fishermen, sailors and pilots once lived in the picturesque little gabled houses. The distance between the houses, the so-called Tüsche, is curious.
It was aligned so that a pregnant cow could just pass through.

Alexandrinenstraße is still known to many Warnemünde residents by the name: Achterreeg.
The "back row" - that is the literal meaning of the name.
While the wealthy boatmen and captains had their houses in the front row, the poorer fishermen and sailors lived here.
