The Hohe Möst (888 m above sea level) is above Oberschönau and not far from the Rennsteig. From the two viewing balconies, the front and rear Möstfelsen, you have wonderful panoramic views of Ober- and Unterschönau, the Haseltal,
the neighboring mountains Großer Hermannsberg, Donnershauk... some striking rock formations Kachelofen, Katzensteine, Kuhstein, sports field rocks...
in the distance the view extends to the Rhön and the Werra valley with Monte Kali etc..
Both rocks are highly recommended, especially when visibility is good.

One of the two rocks of the Hohe Möst with 2 banks, directly opposite the Große Hermannsberg, the view continues to Oberschönau 👍🏻, into the Hasel valley, and the near and far area up to the Rhön.
On the right opposite are striking mountains and rocks, such as Donnershauk, Kachelofen, Katzenstein, Kuhfelsen in the Long Valley and the sports field rock.
The Vordere Möstfelsen can be recognized from other vantage points in the area on the slightly recessed transmitter mast.

The "Hohe Möst" on the Rennsteig is one of the most beautiful vantage points and one of the most popular hiking destinations in the central Thuringian Forest.
The view is impressive.
Sloping steeply, the Lange Grund leads below the rock into the Kanzlersgrund with Oberschönau and Unterschönau.
The narrow notch valleys give an impression of the endlessly long street villages that stretch over a length of approx. 9 km from Oberschönau to Herges-Hallenberg.
The historical interpretation of the name lies between fantasy and historical truth.
The name of the area of the "Hohen Möst" with its two rocks is derived from Asenberg (Götterberg) via Masberg-Mosberg-Möst.
Around 1615 it was called "Moszstein".
Perhaps it was even a stone age wild horse trap.
