The Oude Maas near Stokkem is an old meander and has an area of 12.3 hectares. The average depth is 3 meters with some deeper parts up to 6 meters. The banks are gently sloping and consist of sand and gravel. For bird lovers, the water features in the Negenoord area are highly recommended. If you want to enjoy the wealth of herbs in the Maasland, the best thing to do is walk along the flowery dikes. The Oude Maas van Dilsen is one of the most striking old Maas meanders in the Maas valley.
In the hiking area there are several signposted hiking trails with a length of 2.5 to 13.3 km.
