Depending on the water level, the weather and the season, a walk towards the Maas and on the edge of the Maas (or even on the boulders) is really worthwhile here. Firstly, the more or less natural view of the Meuse with gravel has been restored here, allowing nature to take its course (which is what the managers of the nature reserve explicitly strive for). Then there are the animals: the occasional bathing Galloway cattle and, of course, packs of birds. But especially at this time of year it is also a herbal and flower paradise. As a supervisor told me during a chat on the way there are also many plants here due to the supply of the Maas, which carries a few things with it. In May, the Meuse bank here is a beautifully blooming herb garden. Really more than worth the effort, but beware of some paths with mud spots and one with the large boulders at the end. An accident happened quickly. Still very worthwhile and besides other nature fanatics and peace seekers you will at most encounter "locals" and the occasional fisherman. The Meuse as it really is! On Komoot you will find plenty of small black paths :) Just be careful not to disturb breeding animals.
