The University Library is a key place for Walpurgis Night Celebration in Uppsala.
At sharp 3 o’clock in the afternoon the Donning of the Caps takes place in front of the University Library, Carolina Rediviva. The Vice-Chancellor waves his white student cap to the gathered masses below, who wave back and don their white caps. Raising the cap is seen as a signal to mark the beginning of spring.
Directly afterwards, the male choir Orphei Drängar (OD) perform their spring concert on the steps in front of the library.
Must visit experience when spending Valborg around Stockholm/Uppsala.
