The Tschigat is considered a good vantage point and is frequently visited. It was also climbed by locals early on; Ludwig Purtscheller managed the first tourist ascent on April 3, 1893. He climbed the Tschigat via the north-west ridge, which is still the normal route today. In about an hour, this path with difficulty level II leads to the summit, partially secured. The path through the east wall (also II) is also insured. Further ascents lead from the north (II) or via the northeast ridge (III) to the summit.

Beautiful but tricky walk and climb. Heavily recommended to climb up from the East part and down West towards Halsljoch. If you are used to the very carefully built and maintained trails and paths to the lakes, here you can expect the opposite: rough rocks to overcome and real climbs with almost no ropes or chains to grab. "Only experts" is a serious advise here.
