    Spronserjoch (2591 m)
    The original path from the middle Etschtal near Meran to the high valley of Pfelders dates back to the Middle Stone Age (around 5000 BC). The Mesolith station near the nearby Kaser Lacke is evidence that this mountain region played an important role in early times. The counts of Castle Tyrol had their own alpine pastures and hunting grounds in Zeppichl and Lazins.
    For centuries, the dead of Pfelders were carried over the Falschnaljöchl (2417 m) and the Spronserjoch to the cemetery of the original parish of St. Peter in Gratsch for burial. Hunters, shepherds and smugglers knew of the advantages of this hidden crossing. Folk tradition claims that Pfelders was settled from the Etschtal.
    Today, the scenic beauty of this region is protected and plays an important role in mountaineering.
