The Bismarck Tower of Aš on the summit of Háj (Hainberg) is one of three Bismarck towers in the Czech Republic. In 1898 the construction contract was awarded to the architect Wilhelm Kreis from Dresden, who received a gold medal for his construction plan at an art exhibition there in 1901. Under the construction management of Ernst Hausner, 666 cubic meters of granite were installed from October 18, 1902. The total cost of 58,970 guilders significantly exceeded the estimated 44,000 guilders. The Bismarck Tower was opened on December 22, 1903 and inaugurated in 1904. The vast majority of these towers were built between Otto von Bismarck's death in 1898 and his 100th birthday in 1915. Of the original approximately 240 Bismarck towers and columns, 173 buildings still stand in what are now Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Austria, Cameroon, Tanzania and Chile. In Germany, 146 of the former 184 towers are still preserved.

The Bismarck Tower is closed at the top. View through windows, on whose window sills there are signs on the outside showing places and distances. Below there are balconies and further down there are galleries to walk on. In my opinion, the best view is from the balconies.

The stone observation tower was ceremoniously opened in 1904. Thanks to its perfect panoramic view, the 25-meter-high tower offers views in all directions. The observation tower on Hainberg (Háj) is one of the most impressive observation structures and the westernmost observation tower in the Czech Republic. The summit of Hainberg (Háj), the highest peak in the Czech part of the Fichtel Mountains (Smrčiny), rises just beyond the town of Aš (Asch).
The majestic, 34-meter-high observation tower was built between 1902 and 1904 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Kreis. Named after Otto von Bismarck, the structure bore his name until 1918, and Bismarck's bronze relief stood until 1946. From the four floors of the observation tower, with a total of 122 steps, you can see all the highlights of the Karlovy Vary region and the neighboring part of Germany: the Ore Mountains with the Klínovec Mountains, the Doupov Mountains, the Bohemian Forest, the Kapellenberg with the observation tower on the Zelená Hora (Green Mountain) and its TV tower, the Dyleň Mountains with its tower, the Slavkovský Forest, and the German Fichtel Mountains with the Schneeberg. The observation tower is approximately a 500-meter walk from the Asch-Fichtelberg meeting and sports park.
