The castle was built between 1883 and 1885 by the pencil manufacturer Lothar von Faber (1817-1896) and his wife Ottilie from Stein in the district of Fürth. The stone facades of the two-storey manor house are decorated with neo-Renaissance stylistic devices. The outward appearance is characterized above all by the tower towering at the southeast corner round tower with projecting open Kranzgeschoss and round stair towers. The castle was to serve as a retirement home for Lothar von Faber, who had raised his father's pencil factory, acquired in 1839, to a world-famous large-scale enterprise. In 1893, the early death of his only son forced the then 76-year-old to return to the company headquarters in Stein. During the construction period of the local new castle, the family moved to his daughter Ottilie, married to the later manager, Count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, to Schwarzenbruck. 1906 lost with the completion of the new Faberschlosses in stone the Schwarzenbrucker lock its meaning.
