By drilling holes in the large stone, the cardinal directions can be identified in relation to the position of the sun, and the shadow conveys the time of day.
In the field of view, from northeast to southwest, are the Wildenburg, Hohenfels, Kirschweiler Fortress, Ringskopf, and Pfannenfelskopf. Three seating stones symbolize "Past, Present, Future" and are intended to invite visitors to linger.
