Erfurt's old town will enchant you with its romantic half-timbered architecture and small streets, especially around the Krämerbrücke over the Gera. A special highlight is definitely the Erfurt Cathedral. It is assumed that the previous buildings were built by Boniface from the year 752. St. Marien – its former name – was first mentioned in a document in 1117.
