The castle ruins are about five kilometers west of Niederbronn-les-Bains, on a mountain spur above the Zinsel du Nord valley, on the GR 53 long-distance footpath, at an altitude of 356 meters. Due to a risk of collapse, the access staircase having been removed, the ruin cannot be visited.

The Burg Grand Arnsbourg was built in the 12th century and destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. You can still see the remains of the keep, the walls and the fortification. Access is prohibited for visitors since 1999 for security reasons.

The access staircase has been removed, but someone has installed a ladder on the opposite side. From here it is possible, by climbing a little, to reach the plateau before the ruins, from where there is a beautiful view.
