Beautiful, distinctive excursion point: the lighthouse in Bovbjerg is always a beautiful destination, whether for a sunrise, sunset or just for fun. This stretch of coast invites you to linger. You can also go up the lighthouse to see the area from above. There is also a café by the lighthouse. Directly in front of the lighthouse you can even abseil down on the coast or you can take the steep staircase with around 250 steps to get to the beach. Highly Recommended!

Bovbjerg Lighthouse was built in 1877. The tower is 26 m high and with its location on the Bovbjerg cliffs about 40 m above sea level, the lighthouse is 62 m above sea level. It can be seen almost 30 km away on a clear day. The lighthouse was painted red so that sailors would not confuse it with the white steeples at Ferring and Trans, which also served as navigators.

The lighthouse is still operational and the light characteristic is 2 flashes of 15 seconds each. But it is completely unmanned and is controlled from Fornæs Lighthouse near Grenaa. Today the buildings at Bovbjerg Lighthouse are used as a cultural center where many volunteers work.
