Where the church stands today, there once stood a chapel that was built in 1656. The branch church of St. Odilia, a new building that sacrificed the chapel, was then built in the 19th century and consecrated in 1888.

The branch church of St. Odilia in Silges was consecrated on December 13, 1888 and has been renovated several times since then. The painting of the cross vault, the arches and the side arcades with flowers, diamonds and ornaments is in the neo-Gothic style. It is a reconstruction that was carried out in 1988 by restorer Willy Kiel, Lehnerz, after modern painting had been applied in 1958. The high altar (made by L. Braun from Münster at the time the church was built based on a design by building councilor Güldenpfennig) is also in the neo-Gothic style. The windows of the choir room, which are decorated with stained glass, were designed by the company Schneider and Schmelz in Cologne and installed in 1889.
The Silges church contains another valuable piece of equipment with its expressive statue of St. Odilia from the 19th century. It is a wooden sculpture, depicted in a black monk's robe (habit), in her left hand she holds the abbess's staff and in her right hand a pair of eyes in an open book; Odilia is the patron saint of the blind. The patron saint's day is celebrated on December 13th. The origin, donor, location, time of creation and artist of the statue are not known. St. Sebastian is another patron saint of the Silges church who is venerated and celebrated. He is invoked as the "patron saint of the plague"; in the past, January 20th was celebrated as "Betrothal Day", on which St. Sebastian would ward off the plague and cattle plague. The depiction of the martyr Sebastian with his youthful features is well done and colorful. His origin and donor are not known, the Sebastian figure probably comes from the old chapel. A protective cloak Madonna and a statue of Joseph are from more recent times.
The organ is also of more recent date; it was built by the organ building company Hey, Urspringen and installed in the high gallery in 1972. It is a slider-chest organ with 7 registers and electric action with three tin pipes and two wooden pipes.
In addition to the church decorations, other religious symbols can also be found outside the church in various places in the village. In addition to the private grottos and statues of saints, these include wayside shrines and crucifixes, which in our case date from the 19th century.
