The Kleinhuis Hotel Mellingburger Schleuse is located in Hamburg's Poppenbüttel district. The historic, thatched-roof house is located in a quiet and idyllic location in the Alster Valley in the middle of a nature reserve, which invites to cycling, hiking or canoeing.
The 4-star Mellingburger Schleuse has 47 rooms.
Selected menus and regional specialties are served in the restaurant, which overlooks the historic lock system and on the garden terrace directly on the Oberalsterlauf.

On the northern edge of the Hohenbuchenpark is the Mellingburger lock from the 16th century, named after the early medieval Mellingburg. This was once in the nearby Alsterschleife, but today is only to be guessed by high earthen walls. In 1717, the "lock master's house" was built at the lock, in which the skippers could be hosted and even today it follows as a hotel-restaurant "Mellingburger lock" of this tradition by exhausted excursionists after their canoe tour with food and drinks provided.

The term "Mellingburg" actually goes back to a castle. This is located just over 200 meters from the historic Gasthof Mellingburger Schleuse in a westerly direction, directly on the Alsterwanderweg. However, the area itself is under conservation and may not be entered.
