The 115 steps of the spiral staircase inside the tower are worthwhile in any case: from the top you have a great view over Alzey, Weinheim, the Kettenheimer Grund and Donnersberg. On very clear days, you can even see the skyline of Frankfurt. Bring binoculars!

There was probably a "watchtower" here before the 15th century, which is easy to understand given the location and the resulting view. However, this tower is no longer the "original" from back then, but was built in its current form (again) in 1989.

The 28.15 m high tower was accessible on a Friday in April shortly after 6 p.m., during the third wave (sunset 8:21 p.m.); the entrance is at the back.
