Impressive tower with seating for resting. The narrow building with its 72 steps, which was built in 1904 in honor of the participants of the Franco-German War, has established itself as a landmark of Lonsheim. It is open day and night and offers a great view over the Rhenish Hessian hills

Around the high tower is a small park with plenty of seating and a relatively large hut that offers protection from the sun and storms. The tower is always open, once you have reached the platform you have a wonderful view.

You can spot 20 villages when you climb this observation tower on the Hemm! The floor slab above the foundation is 266.7m above sea level. If you go over the 72 external steps 4.48 m high, then continue over the inner spiral staircase, you reach the viewing platform with crenellated edge at 284.47 m above sea level. The spiral staircase is protected by a rain roof, which is the highest point at 289m above sea level. Source: lonsheim.net
There are plenty of benches and tables right at the foot of the tower, plus a large shelter and a barbecue area.
