    Very nice, cozy half-timbered town. I definitely recommend going to the castle hill of Burg Naumburg. From there you have a great view over Naumburg and the surrounding country.

            Anyone who loves to be in the here and now, in the past, is in the right place here, crooked houses, old walls, narrow streets, the Weidelsburg in the background, the small rustic supermarket & half-timbered houses distributed throughout the village. It doesn't matter when you're here, you're always in the same place at the same time. As if time had stood still. Like in a beautiful fairy tale.

                The Catholic Parish Church of St. Crescentius is a three-nave Gothic basilica begun in the 14th century. The nave was extended around 1420/30 and the west tower was completed in 1512. After the great city fire of 1684, the building had to be largely renovated. A Gothic sandstone Madonna statue from about 1340, the Naumburg Madonna, which once stood on the south facade, is now inside the church; a copy is in the original place on the facade. The rest of the Neo-Gothic style furnishings date from the late 19th century

                  The city of Naumburg was first mentioned in 1170, but could be much older. Despite severe destruction in the Thirty Years' War, during which the church was also completely destroyed, the city has an intact city center with many large half-timbered houses and narrow streets in the middle of a partially preserved city wall. The town is nestled on a slope of the Elbe valley. Incidentally, it remained in the possession of the Archdiocese of Mainz until 1802, which wanted to secure a claim to power against enemy Hesse. The St. Crescentius Church, which is therefore also Catholic, can be visited all year round (via a side entrance behind the church). The 3D wall relief at the town hall is also beautiful!
