The largest reflector telescope in Austria is located here.

The observatory can be visited on the "open day" (for dates see foa.univie.ac.at/aktuelles/). As part of a guided tour, the sun can be observed with a special telescope in good weather. Nocturnal observations are not possible for visitors.

The Leopold Figl Observatory for Astrophysics is an outstation of the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Vienna. The observatory has been used for astronomical research since 1970. The focus is on long-term programs whose time requirements cannot be met by large observatories. Internships are carried out as part of the astronomy course. Public relations is another important task.

The facilities of the observatory can be visited as part of the "Open Day". Interested visitors can experience the largest telescope in Austria as part of a guided tour and, when the weather is nice, have the opportunity to observe the sun with special telescopes. You can find out when this takes place in "Aktuelles".

For larger groups and school classes, there is also the possibility of organizing a special tour on other dates. Nocturnal observations are generally not possible.
