The history of Rettershof Castle
The castle was originally built in 1884 as the residence of the Barons von Dieskau. Located on a hill in the northern part of the property, the building was inspired by the English Tudor style from the start. Sandstone and other rocks from the Vordertaunus were mainly used as building materials. From 1903 onwards, the building passed into the possession of various owners, such as the Princess of Hesse "Sybille".
After changing ownership, the town of Kelkheim decided in the early 1980s to convert the castle into a hotel.
