A wonderful old town with many worth seeing buildings and shops. For a small meal in between, the Kulturspeicher Cafe, Wilhrlminengang 2, is recommended.

The old town of Leer impresses with lovingly restored buildings, narrow streets and a location directly on the water. A stroll takes you straight back to times gone by. It is worth taking a guided tour of the city to learn more about the interesting history of the city. Small shops, tea rooms and restaurants invite you to browse, linger and enjoy.

There are very beautiful old boats in the museum harbor.

The first reason to visit Leer is the historic old town. Because of the good condition of the historic buildings, it is considered the most valuable in the north-west. No less than four (4!) castles can be found here in Leer, which indicates the importance of the city in medieval and modern times. The old town looks quaint and cosy. It is great fun to stroll through the old town on the partly historic pavement, to enjoy the many small and attractive shops and bars as well as the sights, especially since the historic harbor directly adjacent increases the overall ambience many times over in its magic.
