The Leda rises as the Ohe northwest of Spahnharrenstätte in Emsland.
After 24 km, the Ohe joins the Marka just south of the Küstenkanal and 9 km west of Friesoythe to form the Sagter Ems, the historical lifeline of the Saterland, known for its East Frisian language. Between Ramsloh and Strücklingen, the influence of the tides begins.
On the northern edge of the Saterland, the river (47.6 km from its source) takes in the Elisabethfehnkanal, which comes from the moorland to the east.
The name Leda begins half a kilometer further on.

From the dam you have a good view of the mouth of the Leda in the Unterems, but can also go under suitable conditions on a small circular trail closer to the mouth. Or you sit down on the wooden bench, let the calm act on you and maybe you can watch ships.
