I also have to agree with ThomKie: practically all dogs that come towards you are not on a lead, even though the Billetal is a nature reserve. Free running dogs are not prohibited here for good reason and bathing in the river anyway!

I am a dog friend, but also appreciate dying animals. Hundetobplätze there are enough here by the way. I have not seen any kingfishers or capercaillie on the Bille for years.

The fairytale Billetal with its mystical alluvial forests runs along the western side of the Sachsenwald. The Bille makes its loops as a crystal-clear cold water stream with wild bank vegetation.
On the Doctor Bridge north of Aumühle, you can immerse yourself in the world of the forest river. Kingfishers and dippers live here. There are many stories about the neighboring Sachsenwald. The largest contiguous forest area in Schleswig-Holstein is still owned by the Bismarck family today. The traces of the old Reich Chancellor can be found everywhere.

The "Doctor Bridge"
A suitable starting point for the Billetal is the "Doktorbrücke". From the A24 over the
Exit Witzhave you reach Ohe, where you turn left into the "Sachsenwaldau"
turns and drives to the 2nd parking lot. From here you can quickly get to the bridge
and the Billewanderweg. To the south you get to the Fürstenbrücke (1st parking lot in town). Here the "Fürstenweg" lends itself to the left to go back in an arch (after turning left again) through a piece of Saxon forest to the doctor bridge.

The Bille (Slavic biely = "white", compare the river name Biela) is a tributary of the Elbe in northern Germany.
It rises north of the Hahnheide near Trittau in the southeast of Schleswig-Holstein and flows into the Lower Elbe in Hamburg.
The Bille is 65 kilometers long, of which 42 kilometers run through Schleswig-Holstein and the rest through Hamburg.
