It is a very nice medium mountain hike. Surefootedness must be present, as well as good physical condition and alpine experience. On the way there are always benches to relax and enjoy the view. There are also a few barbecues. Zermatt is an idyllic village with many sights with all the trimmings.
Highlight of the mountain hike I felt the following for me:
- Gorner Gorge what was created in thousands of years can be experienced here in one day. Duration of the crossing approx. 20 minutes. Entry and exit via the Blatten mountain hiking trail possible.
Opening times: Daily from the end of May - mid October / 9:15 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Admission: Adults CHF 5.00 / Children CHF 2.50 / Groups of 10 or more CHF 4.50
- A visit is recommended in the Dossen glacier garden. You can see what the glacier normally hides on its underside: polished rock slabs, glacial pots, bizarre rock forms
- Furi suspension bridge step grids lead from the one side of the valley to the other on the 100m long steel cable suspension bridge and 90m deep. The crossing is safe. But it takes a little courage and a pinch of vertigo. Whoever has made the bridge suddenly finds himself in an idyllic mountain forest, with larches, Swiss stone pines, squirrels.
Important: This mountain hike starts directly from the Alpen Resort Hotel. However, you can also start from the Zermatt train station.
Important: Zermatt is car-free, so you park your car in Täsch. There are several parking garages. From there, the train continues to Zermatt. One-way price without the Half-Fare travelcard is CHF 8.20
