A plaque on the way reminds us that there used to be a synagogue here. This was destroyed. The Scriptures had to be burned by the Jews (which is almost worse). To commemorate this, this round plaque here.

"In the town of Königsbach, which was divided between the Barons of Saint André and the Margrave of Baden until 1804, Jews were accepted from around 1700: In 1699, three Jewish families were in town. Around 1750, three Jewish families lived on the Baden side, already 12 to 15 Families on the side of the landlords. The Jewish community existed until 1938/40. ...

In 1933 there were still 102 Jewish residents. Due to the increasing reprisals and the consequences of the economic boycott, many of them left Königsbach in the years that followed. More than half of the Jewish residents were able to emigrate to the USA, Erez Yisrael, Argentina, Brazil and France. Many initially moved to Pforzheim or other German cities. During the November pogrom of 1938, the synagogue was destroyed by SA and SS men from Pforzheim and Karlsruhe. At the same time, Jakob Dreyfuss' factory shop was demolished and looted.
