In 2003, the path was set up as an idea of the Local Agenda 21 of the Pfinztal Nature Adventure Path (N.E.P.P.). The nature adventure path aims to promote encounters in and with nature. Nestled in the forest, the path offers a circular route with a current range of 23 stations for children and adults to observe, try out and discover local nature. In addition to these stations, the natural backdrop itself is also inviting: Depending on the season, various herbs and shrubs bloom along the path, where many butterflies and other insects can be seen in sunny weather. Of course, there are benches for tired hikers to sit on and enjoy the fresh forest air. The adventure stations were set up by volunteers from various groups such as schools, the BUND local group in Pfinztal, the "Kunst mittendrin" artists' group, the beekeepers' association, as well as the forestry department and the municipality's environmental and gardening department. Some of the original stations have been redesigned or refurbished over the years, and a few new stations have been added. The circular route of the nature discovery trail is 1250 meters long. The time required for the entire route (without stopping at the stations) is around 30 minutes. The trail is suitable for disabled people and strollers.
