The farm is quiet and idyllic in one of the most remote side valleys in Durbach.
According to statements by Hubert’s grandfather, the old farmer Cyriak Vogt, the family originally comes from the Hamersbach valley. The ancestors moved to the Durbach valley after the 30 year war (1618-1648). The deserted courtyard had come down so that an elder bush was already growing in the hearth and a blackbird had found its nesting site.
The house and courtyard were rebuilt in painstaking work. Until the 1950s, the focus was on self-sufficiency. Forestry, agriculture, cattle breeding, dairy farming as well as fruit and wine growing formed the wide range of activities that were common at the time.
There was even a mill, which was also used for power supply. Karl-Ludwig Streif (deceased owner of the Streif Unterweiler large bakery), laboriously carried out the entire mill house, including the waterwheel, from the farm and rebuilt it true to the original on the company premises (Weiler Mühle Ebersweier). You can still see it here today.
Hubert Vogt has been running this property with love since 1999. Today, the Hubert and Melanie Vogt family's focus is on forestry, Christmas trees, fruit growing and selling liquor.
Due to the strong demand for a special place for festivities, the rental of the premises in the old wine cellar has developed into an exciting sideline.
