On the east side of Friedenstein Castle is the baroque garden, which is flanked by orangery buildings. These buildings, which date from the 18th century, have unique architectural features, such as the central building designed as a stately hall. They were not only used to house plants in the winter months, but were also used as festival architecture at baroque garden festivals. The fan-shaped arrangement, between which the baroque flower beds lie, opens up to the facade of Friedrichsthal Castle and thus represents a unique baroque ensemble. The orangery buildings are to be used as a show orangery in the future, in which the garden's plants will be housed over the winter months. But consideration is also being given to whether a museum on baroque garden art and the history of orangeries in Europe could be housed there.

The third garden stretches between the castle and the Ducal Museum in the south: here there were once extensive lawn beds, which underlined the effect of the elegant historicist museum building.
The Garden Kingdom in Gotha is made up of three parts - an English garden, a baroque garden and a 19th century garden. Similar to the baroque palace, the macrocosm of European garden architecture is revealed here in the microcosm.
