This is an old road between Weißenbrunn and Kronach. As you walk, you'll feel and see the natural stone paved path, which becomes even more interesting further down. And with every meter you continue downhill, the paved path becomes more and more paved.

You're getting closer and closer to the upper edge of Weißenbrunn as you go downhill. Pay attention to the ground as you walk: In many places, you can still clearly see the old – sometimes even wide – grooves (see image section) left behind by the old carts. ATTENTION: The Roman road thing is a joke. The Romans never ventured into the cold Nortwald forest; the Limes was the end of the line.

You don't often find such an old forest path paved with sandstone anymore. The paving was probably intended to prevent wagon wheels from sinking into the sand and forest soil on the steep slopes. Today, the path is rarely used, which is why the stones are covered in moss. While it looks rustic, it's very slippery when wet. That's why the hiking trail runs alongside it.

The paving can also be found a little further along the climb toward Mostrach.
It's not as easy to navigate with a regular bike, but it's better than the cobblestones in Kronach's old town.
