The core of the four-story Lehlaubenturm on the east side of the market square dates from 1444. A dungeon in the basement of the building was used as a prison until the 17th century. Among other things, those accused of witchcraft were imprisoned there during the witch hunt in Kronach, which is why the tower is also popularly known as the Witches' Tower.
