The Kloosterberg is a witness hill from the Diestian.
At the end of the 18th century, most of the forests on the Kloosterberg had already been cleared. Arable land had taken its place, creating an open landscape with a wide panorama. The hill is intersected by sunken roads.

South of Diest, the Begijnenbeek flows past Assent, partly around the Kloosterberg, in combination with the Gele Gracht.

The Kloosterberg is a witness hill from the Diestian. The Begijnenbeek is possibly part of a former fossil valley that could be extended to the west along the Winge valley. Some authors see this as a former Demer bed.

By the end of the 18th century, most of the forests on the Kloosterberg had already been cleared. Arable land had taken its place, creating an open landscape with a wide panorama.

The hill is intersected by sunken roads. A few embankments are present on the flank of the Kloosterberg. There are also a number of sunken roads that climb up from the valley between the Begijnenbeek valley and the hamlet of Papenbroek. Orchards were recently planted on the south side.

South of the Kloosterberg lies the Gasthuisbos, a recent forest reserve with specific attention to coppice management. The southern part of the area is characterized by rounded fields, numerous farms are located along the southern edge on the ridge. There are also a few field chapels in this area.
