        The oak's circumference is on average 9.2 m and approx. 12 m at the base of the trunk. The trunk volume is approx. 80 cubic meters (stere), corresponding to approx. 60 solid meters (cubic meters) of wood. This makes it one of the thickest and most massive oaks in Germany.

On the other hand, the Barons of Künsberg, in particular Hans Heinrich von Künsberg, who owned Nagel Castle at the time, were themselves in the service of the Protestant Margrave Christian of Brandenburg-Kulmbach and therefore on the Swedish Protestant side.

            It stands completely unnoticed in the miniature forest in the middle of the village of Nagel. As you walk up to it from below through the forest, it is an impressive sight. It is also an adventure for children; my little one was very excited and took one picture after the other.
