The Alter Strom is the oldest shipping route into the port of Rostock. Many cafés and fishermen's pubs invite you to stroll and linger in the old maritime atmosphere.

From here passenger ships start e.g. to the overseas port, to Margrafenheide, to the city port of Rostock or to Kühlungsborn.
The Alter Strom in Warnemünde is also a popular starting point for fishing trips. However, it remains to be seen whether this will continue after the new catch restrictions.
Special highlights are the cod week, the Warnemünde week and the Hansesail events.
During the season, cruise ships dock not far from the Alter Strom. If there are multiple calls, there is a port party with fireworks (rostock.de/files/rostock/img/urlaub/rostock-warnemuende/kreuzfahrt/flyer-kreuzfahrtanlaeufe-2018.pdf)
At Karls Pier 7 on the passenger quay you can marvel at the Warnemünde sand world every year.
