In 1795 there was a battlefield below the Schänzel Tower. Two large memorial stones commemorate this. On the further way there are several carved stones that refer to the battle.

In honor of the soldiers who fell in the war against France in 1794, this tower was built in 1894, in memory of the battle 100 years ago. Dedication:
"In memory of the brave Prussian warriors who died here in the battle against the French invasion army on July 13, 1794 for the German fatherland".

The Schänzelturm is a 13 m high observation tower built in 1874 on the Steigerkopf near Edenkoben in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Südliche Weinstrasse and at the same time the highest tower in the low mountain range of the Palatinate Forest.
