The harbor deck has nothing to do with a port or shipping. According to legend, the devil used to mischief here. On the rocks lying around there is a large stone on the "harbor deck", which lies like a lid on the other rocks. This lid was previously called "the devil's port deck". To put an end to the diabolical hustle and bustle, a chapel was built which is dedicated to the world savior St. Salvator. Records from the parish office in Altenstadt point to the year 1400, when the Kirchweih festival with a large fair rose on White Sunday. In 1545 the dilapidated church was demolished again. The bells were used in Hammerharlesberg for an impact clock. The stones from the chapel, the altar, the baptismal font and windows and doors came to Neustadt. The church tower of Neustadt was built in 1570 with stones from the chapel of St. Salvator and the stones from the old Störnstein Castle. But where did the name come from? Hafen comes from the old word "mug for mug / mug" and deck from lid ... Great story, isn't it?
