Thanks to the "Dimbacher Buntsandstein Höhenweg" you will automatically find it along the way.
It is an imposing block of rock in the middle of the forest halfway up the Weimerberg.

These red sandstone pillars are everywhere in the forest and on the Dimbacher Rundweg. Super interesting and fascinating. And with luck you can still discover a lot from primeval times.

Very nice rock, but what does the name mean? As a non-Palatinate resident, I can only guess: kees = cheese? häwel = plane? So Palatinate cheese slicer?

Such rock formations are typical for the Palatinate Forest and make up part of its character. For those interested in geology: the sandstone formations are between 250 and 270 million years old. Incidentally, there are only 3 sandstone veins in Europe, one of which runs here.
