The landscape lake Allacher Lohe, also called dog lake, is an artificially created still water in Munich, Bavaria.
LOCATION
The approximately 5.5-acre quarry lake is located in the southeast corner of the Allacher Lohe in the Munich district of Ludwigsfeld at an altitude of 499 m above sea level. NN. To the south it is bounded in its full length by the marshalling yard north, as well as east of the federal road 304, which is called there Dachauer road.
STORY
For the construction of the adjoining marshalling yard and the tracks, large quantities of gravel were needed in the 1990s. These could be obtained on site in the open pit from the upcoming post glacial deposits of the Dachau Moss. The lake was created in the resulting gravel pit as operating and fire water lake for the marshalling yard.
The lake is fed by precipitation, pending groundwater and the Hartmannshofer Bach (also called Bächl), which flows out of it as the Schwabenbächl again.
RESERVES
The lake is designated as a part of the Allacher Forests together with the Angerlohe as Flora-Fauna-Habitat area (FFH area no. 7734-302) and is located in the Allacher Lohe nature reserve (NSG-00573.01, WDPA ID: 318087). Bathing is prohibited in the lake to ensure undisturbed development of shorelines and amphibians important shallow water areas and ground-breeding water-loving bird species. The lake is part of the Münchner Grüngürtel.
The western shore of the lake is adjacent to a 4.5-acre Urnfield-era burial ground protected as a Bodendenkmal (D-1-7734-0101).
