The Römer-Lippe-Route - stage Lünen ↔ Haltern am See
An exciting connection between tangible history and beautiful river landscape enables the bike tour on the Römer-Lippe-Route. The main route between Xanten and Detmold stretches almost 300 kilometers across North Rhine-Westphalia and above all along the Lippe River. This meanders in numerous loops and with some floodplains up to its confluence with the Rhine and is in parts accompanied by navigable canals. The tour also follows in the footsteps of the Romans from the old Roman town Colonia Ulpia Traiana via some proven Roman camps to the Hermannsdenkmal at the temporarily suspected site of the Varus Battle in the Teutoburg Forest. In addition to the main route, in some places there are themed loops to the water or via the Romans with an additional total length of 154 kilometers. In total, around 450 kilometers between the Teutoburg Forest and the Lower Rhine can be cycled on this tour.
