Cable car Minister Achenbach
From 1922, shaft 4 extracted the first coal for its own consumption. Because there was no underground connection to shaft 1/2, another solution had to be found to transport the coal from the east field to shaft 1/2. This problem was solved by having a 2.2 km long cable car built. On May 20, 1921, the Pohlig company in Cologne was awarded the contract for this cable car. On March 5, 1923, the cable car went into operation and extracted the first coal to shaft 1/2. This cable car was built right through the town of Brambauer. From shaft 4, the route led behind the gardens of the mining colony past the old cemetery in the direction of Waltroper Strasse. There the cable car crossed Waltroper Strasse in the area of the Wittekindschule (the Auguste-Viktoria-Schule at the time). The route then led across open fields to the Gasthof Fels. There was a cable tensioning station and a curve to take the cable car towards Shaft 1.
