The Buscher Mühle is a watermill on the Northern Düssel in the Düsseltal district, which is believed to have been built at the beginning of the 14th century. It is mentioned in a document in 1790. It is the last partially preserved mill in the Düsseldorf city area and, after being renovated by the Derendorfer Jonges e.V. local association, serves as a social and cultural meeting place.

According to the memorial plaque above the door to the water wheel, the Buscher Mühle once belonged to the Buscher Hof, which was owned by the Pempelfort family. According to a document from 1316, Johannes de Buscho had leased the farm. However, the existence of a water mill is not mentioned in the document. However, it can be assumed with certainty that there was a grain mill at this location in the 14th century. Derendorf, to which the mill location used to belong, was incorporated in 1384, and a “Derendorfer Mull” is said to have raised a third of the tax revenue of the then residential city of Düsseldorf in the Middle Ages.

Until the Second World War, grain was ground in the Buscher mill using water power. The building was badly damaged by a bomb attack on November 2, 1944. It was not until 1956/57 that the city of Düsseldorf rebuilt it at the urging of committed local friends. However, due to cost reasons, this did not return the original condition. The building was given a simplified roof shape and only a mill was reconstructed inside.
