The Greek god of the sea, Triton, holds back a huge, water-spewing fish, armed with a lance. Two putti are involved in the fight.

To the right and left of the group of sculptures, which are enthroned on an artificial rock in the middle of the Kö-Trench, streams of water pour into large mussel shells. The fountain by the sculptor Friedrich Coubillier at the northern end of the Kö gave the boulevard in 1900 a worthy design finish, a “point de vue”. Incidentally, this was not only found by the beautification association at the time, which launched the project. To this day, the Triton Fountain is equally popular as a backdrop for family photos and selfies.

The Triton Fountain was created by the Düsseldorf sculptor Friedrich Coubillier from 1898 to 1902 and acquired by the City Beautification Association for the Düsseldorf Königsallee. At the northern end of the avenue, the fountain acts as a point de vue and a creative end to the canal axis of the city moat.

As seen from Corneliusplatz, the fountain looks like a bridge with stone parapets, decorative vases and putti. In the middle, below a projecting platform with stone benches, is the actual fountain. The fountain figure of the Greek god of the sea, Triton, armed with a lance, holds back a huge water-spouting fish, which is being fought at the side by two small, naked water children. The group of figures rests on artificial rocks and is laterally surrounded by mussel shells with water-spouting lion heads.

The Triton Fountain is part of the Königsallee complex, which has been a listed building since 1994, with the city moat and gardens.
