    The building on Friedrichsplatz was built in the years 1866 to 1872 and housed the natural history cabinet and the court library. It was destroyed by bombs during World War II and rebuilt until 1972.

        The Natural History Museum is located between Nymphengarten and Friedrichsplatz. A worthwhile destination, and not just in bad weather.
        The building, books and exhibits, which were built in 1872, were almost completely destroyed in the Second World War.
        The museum now has over 4,000 m² of exhibition space, with permanent exhibitions, a vivarium and changing special exhibitions.

            The State Museum of Natural History Karlsruhe (SMNK for short), formerly the State Collections of Natural History Karlsruhe, is one of the largest scientific research museums in Germany. Its origins lie in the Margraviate of Baden's collections of curiosities and natural objects, which were established in the middle of the 18th century. The permanent exhibitions show fossils, minerals, specimens of native and exotic animals, as well as live animals in the vivarium. There is close cooperation with the Karlsruhe Natural Science Association.
