The castle Perlenberg, also called Perleburg or Perlenburg, is the ruin of a hilltop castle at the local community Bann near Hohenecken in the district of Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate. The "Perleburg" is a probably never completed Stauferzeitliche castle. It should probably be part of the 12th century system of protection around the imperial palace of Lautern, as evidenced by the quality of the humpback cuboid of the masonry. The name is not historical, but goes back to a document from 1542 (called Birleberg), which is about border disputes between Kurpfalz and Sickingen. At that time, the castle had long since expired. Unfortunately, only remains of the ruins can be seen. The climb to the ruin is worthwhile.
