There is a motorcycle museum, a castle museum with an exhibition on hunting animals and birds, the carriage exhibition, the hunting and castle history, and the Venus and hare hall. There is also a viewing tower with a great view.

The Augustusburg hunting lodge was built from 1568 to 1572 on the Schellenberg, 516 m above sea level, by Elector Augustus of Saxony, approx. 16 km east of Chemnitz.
The altar of the castle chapel was painted by Lucas Cranach the Younger.
At 130.6 m, the fountain is the second deepest fountain in Saxony after that of Königstein Fortress.

Due to its proximity to Chemnitz, the castle is also ideal as a central starting point for exploring the city and the Ore Mountains.
